Why we include it

Our body has an unending need for vitamin C, but humans cannot make this essential nutrient. Instead it must come from the foods you eat.

We include it in SmartyPants formulas to help fill those gaps and to help support the immune system.* It also supports collagen formation and helps the body metabolize fats and proteins.*

Vitamin C is also an antioxidant that helps fight cell damage caused by free radicals.*

Where can I get it?

The richest natural sources are raw fruits and vegetables:

  • ½ cup red and yellow bell peppers – 95 mg
  • ½ cup guava – 188 mg
  • 1 cup kale – 80 mg
  • ½ cup kiwi – 83 mg
  • 1 cup broccoli – 81mg
  • ½ cup strawberries – 50 mg
  • ½ cup oranges – 50 mg
  • ½ cup (cooked) tomatoes – 55 mg

We recommend you seek the advice of your pediatrician or primary care provider before making changes to you or your child’s nutrient intake.
